About Me

Mahesh Mokalkar in the eyes of Rotarians & Friends…….

Hailing from the city of Gandhi, Mahesh is an embodiment of the earnestness to serve. Dynamic yet dedicated; Energetic yet staid; Suave yet simple —that is Mahesh! He could mingle in any group yet stand out in a crowd. His work speaks louder than words. He has seen it all and done it all before taking on the mantle to lead the District in 2016-17.

A dedicated Rotarian since 1997, Mahesh believes in leading from the front and at the same time working on the ground. “Sapne Sach Hue” has been a dream come true for hundreds of young ‘not so privileged’ children who have been taken on a flight to fancy — for the past many years. He has been a one-man army when it comes to working in the areas of disaster management many times in the past. He is the pioneer behind organizing trade fairs at Wardha and several places in the Vidarbha region to promote the local economy and an effective strategy to strengthen the local Clubs financially. This undoubtedly proves his expertise in raising and managing funds. His constant endeavor is to invite the socially active and economically privileged to join Rotary.

In fact, the meteoric growth of his home Club, to quite an extent, can be credited to his efforts The most notable among the projects that Mahesh has undertaken is 105 heart surgeries for children at a cost of rupees one crore, all in a single Rotary year.

In the same year, nutritional meals for malnourished children were planned by an expert dietician and prepared under most hygienic conditions under the personal supervision of club members. His innovative project of “Night school” for rag pickers’ children was widely appreciated and later recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and offered state financial aid.

Besides this, homes for the homeless, vocational training for girls, self-help workshops for handicapped, interest-free loans for self-employment, adoption of schools & children for education, health check-up, and blood donation drives are some of the causes that he has championed and propagated.

Mahesh was the driving force in forming Rotary Clubs of Hinganghat, Arvi, and Wani. He is the recipient of various awards, including the ‘Outstanding President Award’ and ‘Rotary Service Award’ for Polio Eradication. A qualified Civil Engineer, Mahesh leads a vibrant professional and social life. He has authored a handbook for departmental engineers in Maharashtra, appropriately named GENIUS. His life has been dedicated to the upliftment of the less fortunate with a focus on their shelter, health, and education.

He believes that success has no shortcuts and mandatory for sustainable growth is self-sufficiency. He is an exemplary team leader with high morals and a never-ending thirst to reach out to those in need. Mahesh is a well known and well-liked person in the District. His work has been appreciated and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra as well as local authorities and organizations.

He is the founder President of a successful credit co-operative housing society of 550 members, which works for “Shelter for Shelter less” and has been President for three consecutive terms. This society extends financial help to those who are unable to approach the conventional banks and institutions for the lack of adequate legal collaterals. Wife Aarti is Past President of the Inner Wheel club of Gandhi City Wardha and Major Donors Aarti and Mahesh are blessed with two children Purvesh and Disha.
